The Center for the Structural Biology of Host Elements in Egress, Trafficking, and Assembly of HIV (CHEETAH) received $4.8 million in 2019 from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The CHEETAH program is researching HIV-1 structures, mechanisms, and functions of critical host-virus interactions, with the goal of discovering targets for therapeutic intervention. The project has received almost $56 million in NIH funds since 2007.
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) awarded the Utah Center for Clinical and Translational Science over $4 million in 2019. The Utah Center has received $7.8 million from NCATS since 2018.
The University of Utah was awarded $11.5 million in 2018 from the National Cancer Institute, to research the biology of synovial sarcoma, a pediatric cancer, with the goal of providing improved treatment strategies.
