New Mexico State University is a 900-acre campus and a NASA Space-Grant College. It is home to the very first Honors College in New Mexico. NMSU serves a multi-cultural population of students and community members across the state at five campuses, a satellite learning center in Albuquerque, cooperative extension offices located in each of New Mexico's 33 counties, and 12 agriculture research and science centers.

  • 2020 Total NIH funding: $9,132,113
  • NMSU received $3.6M from the NIH in 2021, to continue the New Mexico Idea Network of Biomedical Research (NM-INBRE), a program designed to promote biomedical and community-based research and training.  The program has received nearly $70M in NIH funding since 2001.
  • Researchers at New Mexico State University received $733k in 2021 from the NIH, to study innate immune responses for dengue and Zika viruses.  The project has received $1.5M in NIH funding since 2020.
  • NMSU researchers received $370k in 2021 from the NIH, to study breast cancer therapeutics.  The project has received $1.1M in NIH funding since 2019.
