Washington State University, Pullman is nearing its $1 billion goal to raise new funding for research and operations. A number of significant gifts from private donors have helped Washington State University reach a goal that will allow researchers to apply for new grants to conduct innovative life science studies.

Key Stats

  • 2015 Life Science R&D Expenditures: $166,580,000.
  • 2016 NIH Funding: $27,769,363
  • The WSU Board of Regents approved plans to add a new Plant Sciences Building to an existing research and education complex on the WSU Pullman campus. The project has a budgeted amount of $6.6 million.
  • Researchers in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering will work on developing safe, high quality, additive-free packaged foods thanks to a new $4 million grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
  • A $10 million grant was awarded to a Washington State University researcher to research health risks related to high blood pressure in native populations.
